Commemoration Program Organized

Later, a November 10 Atatürk Commemoration Program was organized by the MAKÜ Turkology Community at the Avşar Han Conference Hall.

The program started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.

The opening speech was made by Assoc. Dr. Himmet Büke, the Academic Advisor of the Turkology Community. In his speech, Büke said; “Today we are commemorating the 85th anniversary of the passing of the founder of our Republic, the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Today, we remember him with great longing and gratitude. In this year, when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic, we understand better the value of the legacies he left us. He was a great soldier and a great statesman who achieved many successes in his 57-year life. He spent half of his life in wars and sacrificed the other half in the service of the Turkish Nation. He resurrected a devastated and exhausted nation from its ashes and led the struggle for independence. He did not let the occupied Anatolian lands be trampled by the enemy's boots and became the leader of the cause of waving our crescent-starred red flag forever. It is a great happiness that the young people, whom he valued the most, remember him with longing in this meaningful program prepared by the Turkology Community. It is a pride for us to witness the concrete form of his words “All my hope is in the youth.” On this occasion, I thank the valuable young people of the Turkology Community, our students who prepared this meaningful program; I appreciate their commitment to Atatürk's principles.”

After the opening speech, poems were read by the students. Then, the Sleepless Nights Oratorio was performed. After the oratorio, songs loved by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk were performed.
