A conference titled “What is Palestine to Us?” was held by the rectorate of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.
The conference held at MAKÜ Avşar Han Conference Hall began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the National Anthem. It then continued with a Quran recitation by Yunus Emre Çelik, the muezzin of Abdülkerim Mosque.
In the conference, MAKÜ Faculty of Theology Basic Islamic Sciences Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Yasin Pişgin, who explained the importance of Palestine for Muslims, said, “The issue of Palestine is the issue of every Muslim.”
Prof. Dr. Yasin Pişgin, in his conference where he said, “We will tell about this oppression and do our best with our hands, our tongues, and our hearts to fight. We need to feel their pain in our hearts. We must not become desensitized to this oppression and pain. According to our faith, they are our brothers,” emphasized that Muslims have never severed and should never sever their ties with Jerusalem.
Stating that Palestinians have not abandoned their homeland despite all kinds of oppression, Pişgin expressed that babies, children, and women in Gaza are being mercilessly martyred. Pişgin, who said that every Muslim is a martyr candidate, concluded his speech with a poem by the late Abdurrahim Karakoç.
At the end of the conference, Rector Advisor Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Alparslan presented a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Yasin Pişgin.
