Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Social Work Department students established LÖSEV Benefit Community and drew attention with the Awareness Event organized during the "2-8 November Leukemia Children Week".
2-8 November Leukemia Children Week awareness event was attended by MAKÜ academic and administrative staff, Burdur LÖSEV provincial representative, students, and the people of Burdur.
The program started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. It continued with a speech by LÖSEV Benefit Community Academic Advisor Assoc. Dr. Deniz Say Şahin, emphasizing the significance of the day.
In her speech, Academic Advisor Assoc. Dr. Deniz Say Şahin stated, “Student communities in universities are important for acquiring many skills and competencies, especially personal, cognitive, and social development, in a way that supports students' professional and academic achievements. In this context, our community, established by the students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Social Work Department, has carried out many social responsibility projects and activities. With this awareness, as MAKÜ, we are always by our students' side and support them in this regard. Our LÖSEV Benefit Community, supported by our university, stands out with its activities in line with its founding purpose. Leukemia is now a treatable disease, and the success rate in treatment is around 92%. The most fundamental need of children undergoing leukemia treatment is love, hope, morale, and motivation. 2-8 November Leukemia Children Week is a week where the big hearts in tiny bodies will embrace with love and societal awareness will be achieved.” She thanked the MAKÜ Rock Community and Folk Dance Community for not leaving the LÖSEV Benefit Community alone in the organized event.
In the program prepared by the LÖSEV Benefit Community, participants had a fun-filled night with the local dance performance by the MAKÜ Folk Dance Community and the concert by the Rock Music Community.
